Dr Cristina Conde, who defended her thesis work in May 2006, has become a Temporary Lecturer in the knowledge area of Computer Architecture and Technology. Therefore, she goes on consolidating her position at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, institution she has been working for as a research grant-holder since September 2001 and as an teaching assistant since October 2002.

Her FRAV colleagues would like to congratulate her.

Professor and Coordinator of Postgraduate Studies of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of the Master on Computer Science of the University of Colima (Mexico), Ricardo Fuentes Covarrubias, is staying for a week as a visitor to the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. He will deepen the collaboration bonds between both institutions, and he will also give several seminars on Computer Vision and his research projects of the University of Colima.

FRAV group as a whole attends the International Conference on Image Analysis and RecognitionLink to an external web (ICIAR 2006), held in Póvoa de Varzim (Portugal). Professor Cabello will give an oral presentation titled "Comparison of Novel Dimension Reduction Methods in Face Verification", while Cristina Conde will take her poster "Automatic 3D Face Feature points extraction with Spin Images".








Professor Paulo Peixoto, researcher from the Vision Laboratory of the Institute of Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra (Portugal), will stay for a month at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. He will also give a seminar about Computer Vision and about the different projects carried out by his research group.

Teaching asistant Cristina Conde, a member of FRAV, has presented her thesis work, titled "Multimodal face verification: 2D and 3D", supervised by Dr Enrique Cabello, at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. She graduated cum laude unanimously and obtained the PhD. degree.
